Love and friendship, two things you can never have too much of. We all need love and amazing friends by our side and when you have the perfect combination of both then that’s all you will ever need to be happy so why not host a Galentine’s Day Dinner?
It’s been just a few days after Valentine’s Day and I hope everyone had a lovely day with their loved ones. I definitively saw the love all over the city of Los Angeles from flowers and balloons to gestures and everyone celebrating love all through the weekend.
This Valentine’s Day I decided to do something completely different something I had never done before which was host a Galentine’s Day dinner. I had always wanted to celebrate Galentine’s and host a dinner/get together so this year I decided to just go for it and celebrate friendship. Of course being Valentine’s Day mostly everyone had plans with their boyfriends, but that didn’t discourage me and I was able to get some friends to come over for dinner.
Hosting any type of event can sometimes be overwhelming and stressful, but it can also be fun! I didn’t decide to host Galentine’s for sure only four days before Valentine’s Day, which didn’t give me a lot of time to put things together. However, hosting a dinner doesn’t necessarily need to take a lot of planning, but take action right away.
It didn’t take too long to get everything together and it didn’t have to be expensive neither. I like doing some smart shopping, buy nice and cute things at an affordable price. I bought some of my decorations at the dollar store, Target and Ralphs. I probably spent less than $20 on the decorations which included table clothe, banner, flowers, napkins, and plates.
I was hosting a dinner and I knew I didn’t want to buy or order food, but make it myself. I wanted something quick and easy to make so I decide to go with some pasta. Pasta can be ready in less than 30 minutes, quick and easy but it’s also filling and a little goes a long way.
I made Alfredo pasta with chicken and bread on the side, brought the wine, salami, and chocolates. One of my friends brought salad, chips and dip, soda, and cheese. Another friend brought dessert, cupcakes. We were ready for a feast and you can always throw some Netflix and chill while enjoying dinner. If you don’t know what to watch check this list out with over 50 shows to catch up on.
“Good friends are like stars. You don’t always see them, but you know they’re always there”
The fun part about hosting an event is the decorating, putting everything together and making it nice and aesthetically pleasing. My Galentine’s day dinner wasn’t anything crazy, but a small intimate dinner with good friends. What really mattered was spending quality time and being able to do something for the people who matter and I care about.
At the end of the night I was happy and satisfied with how the night turned out. We all enjoyed the food, had good conversations and laughed so much and that to me was priceless.
I’ve always liked and enjoyed hosting events, but this Galentine’s day dinner was special since it was the first time I hosted something in my own apartment. Now that I have my own place I want to host events all the time. Sometimes it’s not so much of what you do, but how you do it.
You don’t need a fancy dinner or spend so much money on hosting a dinner or get together all you really need is some time and love. When you do things from the heart it makes them that much more special and your family or friends will see that. At the end of the day it’s the thought that counts.
Celebrating friendships is important to let those who have been there for you know how much you appreciate them. But also, your friends make you happy, you laugh, have fun and do crazy things together so why not just enjoy time together. Next Valentine’s get your girl friends together and celebrate Galentine’s or next weekend you chose, cheers!
